1. Does Netvox have internal Industrial Design capabilities?

Netvox has internal mechanical engineers and we are very skillful at SolidWorks and Pro-E professional CAD tools.
Usually customers prefer to provide their own cosmetic design and we do mechanical and tooling designs based on the cosmetic design provided.

1. What type of other products has Netvox designed?  

Netvox has designed and manufactured a wide range of ZigBee HA and SE profile products and applications. Everything listed in the ZigBee product catalogue is totally designed and manufactured in house. Please see our product catalogue for details.

1. What sort of product lifetime does Netvox aim for in the designs?

Our design aims for less than 1 percentage failure within the first two years usage.

1. Does Netvox do other contract design work like this or is it mostly internal projects?

Besides designing our own products, Netvox provides ODM custom product design and manufacturing services to our customers all over the world.
However, we are not a design house but a manufacturer. The design service must tie to manufacturing to be done together by Netvox.

1. Has Netvox done much development work with battery powered devices?

We have done a wide range of battery powered devices. Among ZigBee HA and SE products, battery powered devices are the most difficult products to make. Battery power consumption must be carefully and delicately calculated and used to sustain long battery life time with minimum battery size.
As you can see from existing battery powered devices we do, they are equipped with smallest batteries possible to reduce overall product dimension.

1. What software development experience does Netvox have?

1. Would Netvox prefer to do the firmware development for products?

Netvox prefers to do the both hardware and firmware development for ODM products in order to hold whole design responsibility.

1. Does Netvox work with any other external partners or companies for firmware or software development?

We do all firmware development in house.
So far we have not worked with any external partners or companies for software development but we do not rule out the possibility in the future for any strategic alliance with other companies to create win-win business cooperation.

1. How does Netvox approach testing and qualifying the designs?

Netvox relies on both internal and external testing capabilities.
Netvox is capable of doing all sorts of ZigBee HA clusters testing by a HA profile test harness tool based on HA Profile Test Specifications. We will make an SE profile test harness tool soon for internal qualification testing.
Netvox relies on external testing lab to do safety and EMC and type approval certification testing.

1. Does Netvox test to any particular standards?

Netvox designs and tests products to comply all types of regulations and requirements the products need to comply with. Check with us for particular items you are interested in.

1. Does Netvox do any certification testing, if so how has Netvox dealt with this in the past?

Netvox has worked with external testing company to provide country type approval certification testing services in the last 15 years.

1. Does Netvox have its own internal test capabilities to do pre certification tests?

Netvox is facilitated to do conduct some pre-scan tests.

1. Does Netvox have its own manufacturing facility or does Netvox use a CM?

Netvox is an ISO-9001 and IECQ QC 080000 certified manufacturer.
We do all manufacturing works in house from tooling fabrication, plastic mold injection, printing, component insertion and SMT mounting, assembly, testing to final packaging. This way is to assure control and delivery under good control.

1. What sort of costs or overheads does Netvox apply for manufacturing?

The labor cost is based on the total production time to make a final product.

1. How does Netvox manage the manufacturing of casings and mechanicals, is that outsourced?

Netvox Xiamen factory produces all plastic parts in housing including printing.
We rely on some external partners to supply metal and rubber parts.

1. What levels of component stock does Netvox hold and what is the typical lead time this results in for manufacturing?

We usually stock common long lead time components. For ODM unique parts, we need customer’s material authorization to stock components.
Usually lead time is around 60 to 80 days contingent on what and how many components we hold the stock.

1. Does Netvox have any warehousing capacity? If so, how does Netvox manage that and what costs are involved for holding goods?

We produce and ship goods by orders. We do not warehouse goods.

1. What sort of shipping deals and rates does Netvox have access to?

Ocean and air freights are widely available in Xiamen where Netvox China factory is located.

1. Would Netvox look at the product design as something that Netvox would own the rights to, ODM customers would own, or a shared ownership?

Netvox owns the Intellectual Property of all design works done for ODM projects unless specified otherwise, but Netvox does not own the ODM products.
Netvox will not and can not sell those ODM products without customer’s permission.

1. What level of warranty would you be able to provide on these products?

Usually we give one year limited warranty. Please warranty policy for details.

1. How available is Netvox engineering capacity to work on ODM products, can you start immediately after project kicks off ?

Netvox will set and keep design and manufacturing milestone agreed by ODM customers. Usually Netvox can start design work immediately.

1. How much resource can you assign to these product designs?

Engineering resources will be properly assigned to do specific ODM project based on the milestones set and agreed. Netvox always keep the milestones.

1. How does Netvox plan on NRE cost of an ODM project, as a fixed cost or on a T&M basis?

Netvox plan on the NRE cost of an ODM project based on time and man basis.

1. How will you manage the project and provide commitment to meeting timelines and milestones?

Projects are well managed and controlled by responsible project managers
Constant daily communication with customers to assure all design requirements are up to date.
Regular meeting to report the design progress.
Regular internal meeting to assure milestone kept.
